“Quair Jan 2022”
What an absolute privilege to see my photo printed on the front cover of the The Atholl & Breadalbane Quair magazine and being shared with 13,000 households.
Arriving at the spot on a clear frosty morning, Carn Liath looked so majestic, dusted with snow at the summit and surrounded by blue . The light was excellent and conditions were perfect for filming but how could I make it really interesting and capture it’s magnificent?
Daniel’s Tips and Tricks:
Let me share with you what I did and why.
I can’t just pick out the mountain so I started looking for some interesting foreground; the frozen pond, the stones cracking through the ice, the path and the clouds which were all key to completing the composition.
Tip: Aim low for better reflections.
Get down, go low when you are filming reflections; they will appear longer and give you a greater surface.
Tip: Look for leading lines, fences, paths, streams.
Let the path lead your eye to the object you want to show through your lens. In this shot the path through the heather and grassland leads you to the summit dusted with snow and contrasts with the blue.
